The Alocasia odora, also known as the Giant Elephant Ear, impresses with its large, heart- to arrow-shaped leaves and strong, upright stems. Its fresh green color gives it a bright, tropical appearance.

This individual specimen currently reaches a total height of approx. 73 cm. The largest leaf measures about 25 cm. In good conditions, the Alocasia odora develops increasingly larger leaves and can grow into an imposing solitary plant.

The plant is cultivated in expanded clay and is offered fully set up in a dark blue plastic pot with a water level indicator (including drainage shaft).

Light requirement

Bright to very bright, with plenty of indirect light and no intense midday sun.

Water demand

Allow the water level to drop to the minimum, wait a few days, and then refill to the optimum level.

Care instructions

Prefers a warm location between approximately 20 and 28 °C.
Moderate to high humidity supports the development of large leaves.
During the growing season, provide regular and sparing applications of a suitable hydroponic fertilizer.
Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below approximately 16 °C.
The plant turns its leaves toward the light. Rotate the pot occasionally if uniform growth is desired.
Older leaves may yellow and be shed over time as new leaves grow in.
Alocasias are poisonous to humans and pets if ingested.
